About me
- Can I live with other dogs? Yes - Cariad may be able to live with another dog, pending a meet and greet at our sanctuary. She has spent her entire life with another collie named Ellie, who is also available for adoption. They can be adopted together or separately. Additionally, Cariad has interacted positively with two staff spaniels, one male and one female.
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes
- Can I live with young children? No - Since Cariad has no experience living with young children, she would be most suitable for a home with children aged 11 and older.
- Do I have any medical issues? No - Cariad has undergone a thorough health check at the vet, and no concerns were identified.
- Can I live with cats? Potentially - The late owner's son, who had been caring for Cariad, mentioned that she was indifferent to his neighbour's cat that often visited his garden. Additionally, when Cariad exited the car to enter our small field for assessment, she noticed Lucy (our farm cat) nearby but did not react. Please note that we can only accept applications from homes where the cat has previously lived with a dog without any issues.
- Am I good on the lead? Yes - Cariad is exceptional on the lead and consistently walks closely beside her handler. She has developed a strong bond with certain staff members and stays by their side at all times. Walking her off-site is truly a delight!
Meet Cariad, our beautiful Collie who has recently celebrated her 10th birthday. She is in excellent condition for her age!
Cariad is highly intelligent and communicates exceptionally well with both humans and other dogs. Although she’s not a puppy, she would make a fantastic companion for anyone interested in starting Agility, Hoopers, or Obedience training. These classes can be arranged through ACGAS with our dog trainer, Gary Mathlin.
Cariad was entrusted to us after the unfortunate passing of her owner. Coming from a farm setting, both Cariad and her companion Ellie (who is also available for adoption) cherished the opportunity to explore the open land. Since neither dog is familiar with city living, they would flourish in a home that offers plenty of outdoor space.
Cariad quickly forms strong bonds with people, particularly females, and has already made a few favourite’s among our team! She embodies the perfect blend of affection and diligence. With her abundant energy, she will need an active family or individual to provide the mental and physical stimulation and exercise she craves. While she may be 10, she has the vitality of a much younger dog!
