About me
- Can I live with other dogs? Yes - Ellie may be able to live with another dog, pending a meet and greet at our sanctuary. She has spent her entire life with another collie named Cariad, who is also available for adoption. They can be adopted together or separately. Additionally, Ellie has interacted positively with two staff spaniels, one male and one female.
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes
- Can I live with young children? No - Since Ellie has no experience living with young children, she would be most suitable for a home with children aged 11 and older.
- Do I have any medical issues? Potentially - Ellie has undergone a comprehensive health check at our vets. Overall, she is in good shape for her age, but the vet noted a few points: - Her teeth are in decent condition for her age, they are worn but do not require dental work. - There is some arthritis in her right hind leg, while the left hind leg is in relatively good condition. The staff also observed that Ellie can appear slightly lame in her front right leg while running. The vet has recommended YuMOVE and advised us to limit her exercise to prevent overexertion. If her condition worsens, we can consider starting her on painkillers. Additionally, the vet mentioned that we can use Metacam if we notice any signs of deterioration. We also noticed that Ellie seemed quite anxious while walking near traffic on our way to the vet.
- Can I live with cats? Potentially - The late owner's son, who had been caring for Ellie, mentioned that she was indifferent to his neighbour's cat that often visited his garden. Please note that we can only accept applications from homes where the cat has previously lived with a dog without any issues.
- Am I good on the lead? Yes - Ellie is a delight to walk and frequently seeks reassurance from her handler. She tends to be cautious around strangers and will try to move past them as quickly as she can! Additionally, she can be hesitant around traffic. She could use a bit of encouragement to build her confidence.

Ellie is an incredibly sweet girl with an abundance of love to share. She loves to nuzzle against you and will paw at you for attention. While she may be a bit shy at first, it doesn’t take long for her true personality to shine through!
She has formed a lovely friendship with a male spaniel belonging to one of our staff members, and when they are together, they are inseparable!
Ellie becomes much more outgoing with another dog by her side. She and Cariad, another collie available for adoption, came into our care together after their owner sadly passed away. Both dogs could be rehomed together, but they have different needs. Ellie is looking for a calm retirement home, while Cariad is seeking an active environment with plenty of training, long walks, and mental and physical enrichment.
