About me
- Can I live with other cats? No - Jaffa is likely to thrive as the sole pet in the household. His previous owner shared that he frequently got into altercations with other cats and dogs while out, often being the one to start the trouble!
- Can I live with dogs? No
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes - 18+
- Can I live with young children? No - Jaffa's former owner mentioned that he was only comfortable when his young grandson visited if the child moved slowly and didn’t run around. Quick movements from children often made Jaffa quite anxious & would lead to him swiping & hissing.
- Do I have any medical issues? Yes - When he arrived, he had significant matting around his rear end, and the vets believed that his arthritis was preventing him from grooming that area effectively. Despite efforts from staff and volunteers to brush him, he was quite resistant! He was scheduled for a de-matting appointment at the vet on May 29th 2025, which went smoothly. Potential adopters should be aware that this issue may arise again in the future if he is unable to reach that area properly. Jaffa would benefit from taking Yumove capsules to support his mobility. He was recently given these capsules, but he quickly realised they were being sprinkled on his food. As long as he has a delicious dish to enjoy, he will eat it, however, if it's in a food he doesn't particularly like, he tends to leave it behind.
- Can I live as an indoor cat? Potentially - In his previous home, Jaffa had access to the outdoors, but he didn't spend much time outside. He would occasionally use a cat flap but preferred when someone would open the door for him!
Jaffa, previously known as Milo, joined us from All Creatures in September 2022. After being rehomed for three years, he has unfortunately returned to us due to his owner’s move to assisted living, which does not permit pets.
Regrettably, Jaffa has not had the best luck. Now at the age of 12, he is in search of a new place to call home. Jaffa is a very timid boy who can be very anxious at times. He will warm up to you if you approach him gently and give him the time he needs to come to you. Building trust with him may take some time, so he is seeking a patient, understanding, and cat-savvy owner.
