About me
- Can I live with other dogs? Yes - Doug has interacted with several dogs at the Sanctuary and has gotten along well with each of them. He would thrive in a home with another dog of similar size or one that is no larger than a spaniel. Additionally, he can be rehomed with his sister Pearl!
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes
- Can I live with young children? No - 10+
- Do I have any medical issues? Yes - Doug is currently awaiting neutering. He has two luxating patella's that do not require any further examination at this time. He seems to wince when his front feet are touched, and the vets will look into this further while he is under anaesthesia for his neutering procedure. For more information, please reach out to us for Gary Mathlin's contact details (Dog Assessor)
- Can I live with cats? No - Doug has not previously lived with a cat, so he would do best in a home without one.
- Am I good on the lead? Yes - Doug is great on the lead and will happily follow you wherever you go. He gets along well with other dogs and remains unfazed when he spots one during walks. If you have some tasty treats in your pocket, he will walk right by your side! This little guy is willing to do just about anything for a delicious snack. So far, training wise, he only knows "sit".
Meet Doug: The Fluffy, Lovable Marshmallow of a Dog!
There’s nothing not to love about this boy!
Doug has been well socialized at the sanctuary, getting along fantastically with a variety of dogs of all shapes and sizes. He is a lovable character, a ball of floof yearning to spread love! Doug would thrive in a home with another dog of similar size or one no larger than a spaniel. He can be rehomed with his sister Pearl, or they can be adopted separately.
Doug has come from a home without a garden, where he was taught to wee on tissue paper indoors, according to information provided by his previous owner. We have also been told that he is not accustomed to using stairs. The reason for his entry into rescue is that his owner believed Doug would benefit from a new home that could offer him more opportunities.
On walks, Doug is fantastic on the lead, following you wherever you go. He remains calm and collected when encountering other dogs, and with some tasty treats in your pocket, he will walk right by your side! This little guy is eager to please and will do just about anything for a delicious snack. His recall is impressive, he always comes back when called. So far, we have been teaching his recall within an enclosed field on-site, ensuring minimal distractions.
Doug is also a sweet lap dog who loves to give kisses and snuggle up with you. If you’d like to know more about Doug, please contact us to speak with Gary Mathlin, our dog assessor. Doug is raring to go to find his perfect match!
