About me

  • Can I live with other dogs? Yes - Muttley has interacted with several dogs during his time with us and has had no problems. A canine companion would massively help boost his confidence and teach him about the world! Ideally, it would be best if he was rehomed to a home with another dog.
  • Can I live with teenagers? Yes
  • Can I live with young children? No - 16+
  • Do I have any medical issues? Potentially - Muttley recently had a health check at the vet, and everything went smoothly. Currently, he is too young for neutering, as doing so at this stage could lead to lasting behavioural changes. We will review this in June 2026. He still has some baby teeth, but the vet has determined that they aren’t causing any problems right now, so there’s no urgent need for dental treatment. Muttley was also vaccinated before arriving into our care. Next vaccination due: 20th April 2026
  • Can I live with cats? No - Muttley has previously lived with four cats, but he displayed a tendency to grab them by the neck, although he didn’t cause any harm. His former owners tried to keep them separated because of this behavior. Given this tendency and his breed characteristics, he would not be suitable for a home with cats.
  • Am I good on the lead? Potentially - Muttley is currently undergoing training for lead walking and getting accustomed to wearing a harness. Muttley is also in the process of toilet training.
  • What was the reason for my surrender? My owners could not afford to keep me (financially)

When 11 month old Muttley arrived at our sanctuary, he was in a state of panic. Overwhelmed by fear, he needed encouragement from our staff dogs to come out of his kennel. As he approaches his first birthday on Christmas Eve, our hearts ache at the thought of him still being in our kennels.

Muttley’s world has been turned upside down. He faces a new environment filled with unfamiliar sounds and faces, leaving him a little uncertain and anxious.

This sweet boy had never worn a harness and was becoming accustomed to a lead when he first arrived. It feels as though he’s starting from scratch, relearning the basics like a 12 week old puppy.

Muttley is currently in training for loose lead walking and has successfully learned that the harness is nothing to fear! We’ve achieved our goal of getting him comfortable wearing it. We are so proud of him.

He’s also picking up cues like “watch me,” “follow me,” and “sit.” At his young age, he absorbs information quickly, training him is a breeze!

As a lively puppy, Muttley has abundant energy and would thrive in an active household, ideally with a family familiar with terriers. He loves playing with toys and has a charming personality.

Please help us give Muttley the loving home he deserves!
