About me

  • Can I live with other dogs? Potentially - Lara has been dog tested with a staff member's spaniel and had no issues.
  • Can I live with teenagers? Yes
  • Can I live with young children? Potentially - Lara previously resided in a home with children aged 5 and older
  • Do I have any medical issues? No - Lara has undergone a complete health check at the vet. She is currently not spayed, and unfortunately, we do not know when her last season occurred. The vet has recommended that we wait for three months to monitor her and see if she goes into season. If she does not, we will proceed with her spaying. Lara is not currently vaccinated but will be very soon - date pending. At the vet practice, Lara was quite nervous, but this seemed to stem from entering the building rather than from the vet itself. We are actively working with her to help her feel more comfortable with entering and exiting buildings to determine if this is a specific trigger for her anxiety or if it was just the vet's environment that unsettled her.
  • Can I live with cats? No - Lara has never lived with a cat before and therefore, would suit a cat free environment
  • Am I good on the lead? Yes - Lara is excellent on the lead and doesn’t pull. However, she gets quite excited when it's time to put on her harness in the kennel and tends to be very wiggly!
  • What was the reason for my surrender? Lara originally belonged to a gentleman who enlisted in the army. He entrusted her to his mother, but unfortunately, she was unable to care for Lara due to her own health issues

Lara is a wonderfully affectionate Husky mix. While she does have a strong Husky influence, she doesn’t fit the typical image of a high energy sled dog. In fact, Lara is quite compact! she’s even shorter than a Labrador!

She walks beautifully on the lead and has been trusted off lead in her previous home. However, since she lived primarily outdoors, she may not be fully house trained.

Lara is looking for an active individual or family who can welcome her as a cherished companion. She thrives on daily adventures, exploration & attention. Her favourite thing in the world is human affection, she craves it above all else. Not particularly interested in treats, often spitting them out, she prefers to nuzzle into your for a fuss or roll over for a belly rub, which is her absolute favourite thing to do.
