About me

  • Can I live with other cats? No - For her well being, we recommend against placing Jalapeño in a home with other cats. In her previous environment, she shared space with one cat, but her owner reported instances of unexpected aggressive behaviour from Jalapeno. In our cattery, we've observed her standing her ground, she can on occasion, swipe at other cats or kittens if they linger too long near her cabin. Given this behaviour, it would be best to rehome her as the sole pet in the household for everyone's safety.
  • Can I live with dogs? No - Jalapeño has never lived with a dog
  • Can I live with teenagers? Yes
  • Can I live with young children? No - 10+ - Jalapeño was surrendered to us after apparently exhibiting unexpected aggressive behaviour towards her owner. Although we have not seen any of this behaviour for ourselves, for safety reasons, we do not recommend placing her in a home with very young children. Even though she has been wonderful towards all adults since being in our care, we still recommend a no (young) children household.
  • Do I have any medical issues? Yes - Jalapeño has undergone a thorough health evaluation at the vet. An echocardiogram conducted on the 24th April 2026, unfortunately revealed fluid surrounding her heart, which necessitates her being on specific medication, possibly for the remainder of her life. She is currently receiving treatment with Frusol and Clopidogrel, and potential adopters should be aware of this. She currently has a 2nd Echo booked for the 1st July 2026, depending on the results of this, the vets will review her medication. Additionally, Jalapeño was spayed during her time with us due to a diagnosis of Pyometra, a serious condition. Thankfully, she has made a good recovery from the surgery! The uterus and the cysts found were sent for testing, and all results came back benign, so there are no concerns regarding this matter. Jalapeno will be fully vaccinated on the 1st July 2026. Her next booster vaccination will be due on the 1st July 2027. Jalapeño may show some spiciness at the vet's, which is understandable given her frequent visits, she has her limits!
  • Can I live as an indoor cat? Yes - Jalapeño has always been an indoor cat, and at 9 years old, we believe that allowing her outside now would be unsuitable, as she lacks outdoor experience. A home with ample space would be ideal for her, allowing her to create her own comfort zone and retreat whenever she needs to.
  • What was the reason for my surrender? We were told that Jalapeño had two unprovoked incidents in which she attacked her previous owner, resulting in the owner needing antibiotics for the wounds. For more details, please refer to her bio.

Meet *Mild* Jalapeño!

This gorgeous cat is searching for a loving new home where she can truly flourish. Jalapeño was surrendered to us after experiencing two unprovoked incidents with her previous owner over a two week period and an unexpected reaction towards another cat in the household.

The first incident was reported as minor, with details remaining unclear. The second occurred when her owner was removing cello tape from a cardboard box, which startled Jalapeño due to the sound. This unpredictable behaviour led her family to make the tough choice to find her a new home.

Since arriving at our cattery, we haven’t observed any similar reactions. In fact, she displays a wonderful temperament and is incredibly affectionate! Jalapeño loves to greet you with hugs, putting her paws on your shoulders as soon as you enter her cabin! She will then snuggle into your neck for a cwtch! She has been a delight for us throughout her stay.

We believe her previous environment simply wasn’t the right fit for her, and something there was clearly unsettling. Having been with her family since she was just three weeks old, well before the typical 9-12 weeks kittens usually stay with their mothers, this may have influenced her behaviour, we cannot say for certain.

From what we’ve seen, Jalapeño is nothing like what her transfer form, or name suggests! Hence why we have now added *Mild* into her bio! 😉
