About me

  • Can I live with other dogs? Potentially - Bessie may be able to coexist with another dog. Since coming into our care, she has met a spaniel and a Labrador. Currently, she feels quite nervous and uncertain around them, which is likely due to her limited socialisation with other dogs. We’ll be focusing on improving this aspect over the next few weeks. She tends to be quite vocal and often barks at the other dog but has not displayed any aggression what so ever, she's just unsure!, so a companion with a calm demeanour might be the best fit for her. Multiple meet and greets would need to take place at our site for successful applicants.
  • Can I live with teenagers? Yes
  • Can I live with young children? Yes - Bessie has previous experience of being around young children & enjoyed their company
  • Do I have any medical issues? Potentially - Bessie has received a full health check at the vets. She requires a dental malocclusion requiring 1-2 extractions. We will update her write up following the appointment. She came into us already vaccinated & spayed. Next vaccination due: 11th February 2027.
  • Can I live with cats? No - Bessie has no prior experience of living with cats.
  • Am I good on the lead? No - Bessie’s skills with loose lead walking need significant improvement. Right now, she only knows the cue "sit." The team is currently focusing on loose lead walking training with her, starting from the fundamentals! We are sure that she will pick it up in no time, being such a young, intelligent dog.
  • What was the reason for my surrender? Bessie was given to her owners after their previous dog passed away. Unfortunately, they soon recognised that, in their older age, a young and energetic dog like Bessie wasn’t the right match for them, and they were unable to provide her with the care she required.
  • What am I like when I travel in a vehicle? Absolutely fine! Bessie travelled to the vets in a crate, inside a van without issue

Meet Bessie!

Bessie is a lively terrier who thrives on activity. She needs adopters who can match her energetic pace and keep her engaged. This lovely girl is friendly and quickly warms up to everyone she meets, showcasing her confidence in no time.

Young Bessie has a remarkable spring in her step, able to jump over 5 feet high! She often leaps at her kennel door or gate when she’s eager to go for a walk when the harness appears in her view. Because of her impressive jumping ability, her new home will need to have secure, tall fencing or walls. As part of our rehoming process, a secure garden is essential anyway, but with Bessie, a height requirement of at least 6 feet minimum will be needed in order to accommodate Bessie’s surprising agility!
