About me
- Can I live with other dogs? Potentially - Koby previously lived with four other dogs and might be able to coexist with another dog, depending on multiple meet and greets and a home assessment. We were told by his previous owner that he can be somewhat protective of his food, but it's always best to feed multiple dogs separately regardless, in any multi dog household.
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes
- Can I live with young children? No - 10+ - Koby may be best suited for a home with adults. While he is fine around children, his past lifestyle suggests he may thrive better in an environment with older children only.
- Do I have any medical issues? Yes - During Koby's vet visit, several observations were noted: - Tear Duct Issue: Koby has a tear duct in his right eye that isn't functioning properly. He will likely need lifelong eye drops, specifically Vizulize, Optimmune, and Ocry-Gel. The vet checked this on the 24th June, 2026, and was satisfied with the tear duct production. Koby is also undergoing a 7 day trial of Zenrelia, after which we will review its effectiveness for a potential autoimmune disease that could be causing his dry eye and skin issues. Additionally, Koby has a retained testicle despite being neutered, but this is not a concern at the moment. He is remarkably cooperative during the eye drop process, handling it like a champ with some tasty treats or cheese to distract him! - Lump on Back: The vet found a small lump on Koby’s back that may need to be removed and tested, as it has been growing slowly. However, it is not an immediate concern and is being closely monitored by the staff. Koby was neutered before arriving at the sanctuary, is fully vaccinated, and is up to date with flea and worm treatments. His next booster vaccination is scheduled for the 20th May 2027.
- Can I live with cats? Potentially - Koby previously lived with one cat and might be able to share a home with a cat in the future. However, please note that we can only accept applications from households where the cat has already lived with a dog, simply having dogs visit the home does not qualify.
- Am I good on the lead? Yes - Koby is very good on the lead & is happy to go wherever his humans are! he is very food motivated & will follow you anywhere for a tasty treat! Koby likes to jump up on you a lot and will often stand up on his back legs like a human to beg for food. He is currently undergoing "loose lead walk" training.
- What was the reason for my surrender? Koby was surrendered due to circumstances in his previous home. As the fifth dog in that environment, not all the dogs were getting along well.
- What am I like when I travel in a vehicle? Koby was amazing during his trip to the vet, traveling comfortably in a crate inside the van without any issues.
- Do I have any fears? Not that we know of!
Koby is an exuberant boy eagerly seeking a loving forever home! Initially thought to be 11 years old, a recent vet visit revealed that he’s actually just 2 to 3 years young, full of energy and ready for adventure.
This sweet boy is looking for compassionate adopters who can provide him with stability, as he has changed homes three times already! Koby truly deserves a nurturing environment for the rest of his life.
Known for his friendly nature, Koby loves to seek out affection and will happily rush over for cuddles. While his recall may need some work out in the real world, our dog trainer, Gary Mathlin, is available to assist adopters with training.
Koby has a playful spirit and is motivated by tasty snacks! He’ll charm you by walking on his hind legs or even gently digging into your pockets for treats. He’s also a fan of “rough play,” as shared by his previous owner.
Koby brings positive vibes to everyone he meets, and our cuddle sessions with him are truly special. If you’re looking for a devoted, lap dog companion, foodie friend, Koby is the perfect match for you!
