About me

  • Can I live with other dogs? Yes - Tia has interacted with many dogs since she was a puppy and gets along well with all of them. She brings a lot of energy to her playtime and is currently best friends with a puppy who is 11 months younger, she can easily outpace him! Her play style is very lively but can be toned down with a simple call off, thanks to her excellent recall. If Tia is rehomed with another dog, we think she would thrive best with a companion of similar size and temperament to keep up with her energy. Although this is not a strict requirement, we strongly believe that having a canine companion would greatly benefit her.
  • Can I live with teenagers? Yes
  • Can I live with young children? Yes - 12+ - While Tia has been raised around young grandchildren aged 3-12 and would visit them regularly, her previous excitement around them leads us to recommend that she be placed with slightly older children.
  • Do I have any medical issues? Potentially - Tia experienced extensive surgery following her spay due to complications from the procedure (which was performed before she arrived at the sanctuary). If you would like more information, please reach out via email and request to speak with our dog assessor, Gary Mathlin. Since being in our care, Tia has undergone a complete health check, and there are no concerns. She is fully vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatments. Her next booster vaccination is scheduled for the 4th March 2027.
  • Can I live with cats? Potentially - Tia previously lived with a 19 year old cat, but her owners felt she wouldn’t be suitable for a home with a cat, as she tends to chase them frequently when they move/run. In our care, we’ve observed that when she sees our farm cats, she pulls on the lead and attempts to chase them, even if the cat is stationary. For this reason, a cat free home may be better for her, but we cannot fully rule this out.
  • Am I good on the lead? Yes - Tia can walk beautifully on a loose lead, though she may occasionally pull when she’s motivated. She is quite strong, so we recommend that her adopters be active and steady on their feet. Thanks to the excellent training she received from her previous owners, her loose lead walking and waiting cues at gates and doors are exceptional.
  • What was the reason for my surrender? Tia's owners made the difficult decision to rehome her after realising they had underestimated the commitment required for a young, working line breed. Despite the significant effort they invested in her exceptional training, she ultimately wasn't the right fit for their lifestyle.
  • What am I like when I travel in a vehicle? Tia was really good during her trip to the vet, traveling comfortably in a crate inside the van without any issues.
  • Do I have any fears? Not that we know of!

Introducing Lab X Tia!

Tia is a high energy gundog mix bursting with vitality!

This delightful dog adores cuddles, playing with toys, training sessions, and snack breaks, she truly is the whole package!

Friendly and well trained, she would thrive with experienced owners who might already have an older gundog to help guide her (though this isn’t a compulsory requirement).

If you’re a first time dog owner, Tia may not be the best fit for you. However, if you have the time, energy, and experience with gundogs or similar breeds, she could be your perfect companion!
