About me
- Can I live with other cats? No - Chad isn't particularly fond of other cats and often instigates fights with them for no apparent reason. When he first came to our farm as a "stray," he frequently picked fights with our farm cats, even when food wasn’t a factor. He has consistently displayed negative behaviour towards the other cats in the Cattery, visible behind the glass. It’s clear that he would thrive as the sole pet in a household.
- Can I live with dogs? No
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes
- Can I live with young children? No - Given Chad's unknown background and his high energy breed, we do not recommend placing him in a home with children.
- Do I have any medical issues? Potentially - Chad is awaiting a health check at the vets - we will update his write up after the appointment.
- Can I live as an indoor cat? No - Since Chad has travelled at least two miles to reach our farm, we believe he is not well suited for sole, indoor living. Given his breed, he is accustomed to roaming freely.
- What was the reason for my surrender? We believe Chad has strayed from his home, likely traveling about two miles, as we suspect he originates from the same place as Ferris, the last Savannah cat who turned up on our site, who has since been rehomed. We tried to reach out to his owner but received no response after seven days. As a result, Chad became the legal property of our rescue, allowing us to find him a new home.
Meet Chad! He wandered away from home and lived primarily our farm from January to July 2026. During that time, we only caught glimpses of him, but he seemed healthy and happy. We had a strong suspicion about his origin, as this isn’t the first Savannah mix we’ve found roaming our property.
Our team made several attempts to catch him, but without success, until one day, he approached us on his own, looking for food. He appeared thin and had lost some muscle mass, clearly in need of a meal.
Now safely in our Cattery after being willingly caught, Chad enjoys his daily meals and is already starting to regain his weight. The team is still getting to know his personality, but we know for certain that he needs a rural home without other pets (dogs or cats) and should be rehomed at least 3 miles away from the sanctuary to prevent him from returning.
