About me
- Can I live with other dogs? Yes - I have met two dogs while in ACGAS care: a five year old male Spaniel and a one year old male Labrador, and I regularly enjoy playing with them both! I am very high energy and love bounding over to other dogs to play. I’m like a spring, always ready to do zoomies, be chased and enjoy a bit of rough and tumble play! Because of this, I would need to live with a dog who can match, or tolerate my energy and enthusiasm. I was also fostered by someone who regularly took me out to socialise in environments with other dogs and people.
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes
- Can I live with young children? Yes - 5+ - Dog savvy
- Do I have any medical issues? No - I have had a full health check with the vet, and no concerns were identified. I have also received my first vaccination, with my second vaccination due on 22nd October 2026. I am currently too young to be spayed, so my veterinary team will provide guidance, and my adopter will work with them to arrange this when the time is right.
- Can I live with cats? Yes - I briefly lived in a foster home with two cats who were used to dogs and were able to tolerate my high energy. I would often try to start games by chasing them, and when I became too much, they would correct me with a paw. I always accepted this calmly and never retaliated. My fosterer felt I sometimes found it difficult to settle around the cats, possibly because of my breed and natural instincts. However, I may be able to live with cats who have previously shared a home with a high energy puppy. Please note that applications may not be considered from homes where the resident cat has never lived with a dog, or has only lived with a smaller, much calmer breed.
- Am I good on the lead? Yes - My carers don’t believe I had much, if any, lead training during my early puppyhood, nor do they believe I've ever worn a harness or used any other walking equipment. It was only after going into foster care, where I was regularly taken out to develop my socialisation skills, that I began to experience the world more fully. I’m now an absolute dream to walk on the lead, although I can still become nervous in certain situations. With gentle encouragement, tasty treats and a calm, reassuring voice, I’m continuing to build my confidence.
- What was the reason for my surrender? At just 8 months old, I had already experienced more than any puppy should. I was found living in a flat with no garden, in filthy and unsuitable conditions, with no choice but to toilet indoors. The conditions were so concerning that the police removed me from the property to protect my health and welfare. It is believed I came from a home where substance misuse was present, meaning I grew up in an environment that was unsafe and completely unsuitable for any animal. Despite everything I have been through, I am now safe and receiving the care, stability and love I deserve, thanks to the officers and vets involved in my case.
- What am I like when I travel in a vehicle? I travel very well in a crate in the back of a van. I may need a little lift of encouragement when getting into an unfamiliar vehicle, but with gentle training, my handlers are confident I will soon be completely comfortable. Once travelling, I am no trouble at all.
- Do I have any fears? I have shown no fears or concerns around my handlers
- What are my exercise requirements? As a puppy - between 1-2 hours per day. As an adult - 2+ hours per day
Meet Lilac! (Originally called “Loli-Lo”)
Lilac is an adorable 8 month old Collie puppy who has had a heart-breaking start in life. She was rescued from extremely poor living conditions, but thanks to the officers and vets involved in her case, she is now safe, happy and receiving the care and love she deserves.
Lilac is highly intelligent – which is exactly what you would expect from a Collie! She responds beautifully to a whistle, already has excellent recall and knows “sit” and “down. She is also learning “touch” and picks up new exercises incredibly quickly. Her clever Collie brain is truly remarkable!
Lilac would ideally suit an experienced home that has previously owned a high energy or Collie breed. With the right adopter, consistent training, brain games and plenty of enrichment, this special girl will truly flourish!
