About me
- Can I live with other cats? Potentially - I may be able to live with other cats, as I’m not phased by the other cats in the cattery. However, I would strongly advise that I’m fed separately from them, as my appetite for food is insane! I’m highly likely to steal any food I can get access to, including cat food, dog food and even human food!
- Can I live with dogs? No - I am not a fan of dogs!
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes
- Can I live with young children? No - I’m such a foodie that I can sometimes even think fingers are a tasty snack! Don’t worry, I’m not being nasty, I’m just constantly on the lookout for food, whether it’s a few crumbs or even a little bit of sauce left on your fingers! Because of my love for food and for safety reasons, I’d be best suited to a home with children over 10 years of age, or an adult only household with no children.
- Do I have any medical issues? No - I’ve had a full health check and blood work done at the vets, and thankfully, no issues have been raised. I’m due to be neutered and microchipped on the 12th October 2026, and I’m also due to have my second vaccination on the 14th October 2026.
- Can I live as an indoor cat? Potentially - I came into the rescue as a very hungry, starving stray, so it’s difficult to say for certain whether I would be happy living purely indoors. However, we certainly can’t rule it out! As long as I have enough space to explore, play and keep myself entertained, I should be absolutely fine.
- What was the reason for my surrender? I came into the rescue as a starving stray, after I was found near Grove Farm in Newport, South Wales.
Meet Mort! 🐾
Mort is a whirlwind of energy, personality and an absolutely enormous appetite and we can’t wait to find this very special boy his forever home!
In the last 7 years at ACGAS, Mort is quite possibly one of the most ravenous cats we have ever met! This boy is a true foodie, and we believe his incredible appetite is largely down to his difficult start in life. Mort came into our care as a starving stray, so weak that he could barely stand. Thankfully, he has made huge improvements since arriving with us and has really started to perk up, but he still has some way to go.
He is currently working on building up the muscle mass in his back legs, which means he isn’t yet able to jump and climb like a typical cat. We’re hopeful that, with time, good nutrition and plenty of TLC, he will continue to grow stronger.
Mort absolutely loves a fuss, but in true Mort fashion, food comes first! He is quite simply everywhere in the cattery. Nothing is safe from this determined little food detective. Bins? He’ll investigate them. Biscuit buckets? He’ll tip them over. Drinks? They’re fair game too! If there’s even the slightest possibility that something might contain food, Mort will be there, determined to find it.
His food obsession is quite something, before coming into ACGAS, Mort was even known to have eaten an entire Mars bar! This boy really will eat anything he can get his paws on.
Because of this, Mort’s adopters will need to fully understand his personality and be prepared for a high energy, food obsessed character who will keep them on their toes! He will need a home where his food obsession can be carefully managed and where his adopters are happy to embrace all the quirks that make Mort, well… Mort!
We’re hoping that as Mort continues to recover, reaches a healthy weight and rebuilds his strength, his appetite will eventually start to settle down. For now, though, he is very much on a mission to find his next meal!
Despite his chaotic antics, Mort is a lovely, affectionate boy who has already shown us just how much personality he has. We are determined to find him the right home where he can continue to flourish, grow stronger and finally enjoy the happy life he deserves.
If you think you could keep up with Mort’s energy, his enormous appetite and his larger than life personality, he could be the boy for you! ❤️
