About me
- Can I live with other dogs? Yes - I could potentially live with another dog. I previously lived with another female Bulldog, who sadly passed away recently. I’m also not fazed by other dogs I meet when out and about on my walks or when visiting the vets. I’m due to have a dog introduction with one of our staff member’s dogs soon, so we’ll hopefully know more about how I get on with a potential canine companion after that.
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes - I can live with teenagers! I’ve previously lived with children aged 12, so I’m familiar with having older children around.
- Can I live with young children? Yes - I’ve previously lived in a home with younger children aged five and over, so I have experience of family life with little ones.
- Do I have any medical issues? Yes - I’ve had a full health check at the vets, and I’m now awaiting booking for my BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) surgery. I’ve received my first vaccination, and my second is due on 28th October 2026. I also need to be spayed. The vets have advised that this may be possible at the same time as my BOAS surgery. The team will update my profile as soon as they have more information.
- Can I live with cats? Yes - I’ve lived with multiple cats before, and I’m also unfazed by the farm cats who roam around the site when I’m out on a lead walk. This is a positive sign, although any introductions to cats in a new home would need to be managed carefully.
- Am I good on the lead? Yes - I’m a dream on the lead! As a Bulldog, I’m not built for running marathons or climbing mountains, and I much prefer a leisurely stroll around the block or a little wander to a dog-friendly café. At the moment, I’m having two 15-minute walks a day, which is all I can comfortably manage. Once I’ve had my BOAS surgery and recovered, I should hopefully be able to enjoy slightly longer walks, following the vets’ advice. I’m looking for a home that understands my needs and is happy to enjoy life at a more relaxed pace with me.
- What was the reason for my surrender? I came into the care of ACGAS after my previous owner experienced life-changing health issues and financial difficulties, which sadly meant they could no longer give me the care I needed. Through no fault of my own, I’m now looking for a loving new home where I can settle in, enjoy my little walks, and be cherished for the wonderful Bulldog I am.
- What am I like when I travel in a vehicle? I’m not sure I’ve had much experience travelling in a car, as I was quite unsettled during my recent trip to the vets. I had an accident in my crate in the van and found the experience a little overwhelming. With time, patience, gentle training and guidance from our dog assessor, Gary, I’m hopeful that I can learn to feel more comfortable and confident when travelling.
- Do I have any fears? I can be a little shy if people rush around me. I much prefer a gentle, calm and patient approach, allowing me time to feel comfortable and secure.
- What are my exercise requirements? I enjoy short, leisurely walks, ideally 2–3 times a day for around 10–15 minutes each. My exercise needs will depend on how successful my BOAS surgery is and how well I recover, so I’ll need my new family to be mindful of my limits and follow the vets’ advice. As a Bulldog, I can struggle in warmer weather and am particularly vulnerable to overheating and heatstroke. During the spring and summer months, my walks will need to be carefully managed in line with veterinary advice, as I can still be susceptible to heatstroke even after my BOAS surgery. My health and comfort will always need to come first, so I’ll need a family who understands my breed’s needs and is happy to adapt our walks around the weather.
