About me
- Can I live with other dogs? Potentially - Milo flourishes during his weekly off-site pack walks, demonstrating his social skills and adaptability. He may also be suited to living with another dog in the household.
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes - Milo may be able to with teenagers aged 16 and older, given his energetic and playful, puppy-like demeanour.
- Can I live with young children? No - Milo would thrive in a home with older children, as his energetic and playful nature aligns well with their activity levels.
- Do I have any medical issues? No - Milo has undergone a comprehensive health check at the vets since joining us, and we are pleased to report that no concerns have been identified.
- Can I live with cats? No - Milo is not suitable for a home with cats, as his breed tendencies lead him to attempt to chase them if the opportunity arises.
- Am I good on the lead? Yes - Milo has mastered loose-lead walking, showcasing the significant progress he has made since arriving at the Sanctuary. He is hardly recognizable compared to the lead puller he once was! With the assistance of tasty treats, Milo consistently checks in with his handler and understands the cue “check,” which prompts him to look back and come closer. His eagerness to please, especially when food is involved, greatly enhances the training process.
We are seeking a truly special adopter for Milo, an exceptional dog who deserves a nurturing and loving home. The ideal candidate will have experience with breeds similar to Milo or a background in working with dogs that have faced early life challenges.
Milo is a vibrant and energetic two-year-old who unfortunately missed out on many joyful experiences typical of puppyhood. He was surrendered to our Sanctuary after social services intervened due to reports of his previous living conditions, where he was confined to a crate for up to 20 hours a day, lacking exercise and enrichment, which severely impacted his quality of life.
On occasion, Milo can exhibit playful puppy behaviours, reflecting his limited socialization and exposure to the outside world. Thanks to our dedicated volunteers, he has been enjoying weekly off-site adventures that have significantly improved his social skills. Milo thrives in the company of other dogs during these pack walks and has formed a strong bond with his primary handler, Jade Brooks.
He is familiar with basic cues such as sit, paw, and lay down, and he is highly trainable, especially with the encouragement of tasty treats! Our assessments have shown that Milo is highly intelligent and eager to learn, making formal training classes a fantastic opportunity for him, which we can facilitate through ACGAS. Impressively, he is also muzzle-trained, mastering this skill in just four weeks!
Milo would make an excellent companion for active adopters who can invest time and attention in his ongoing development. Individuals with experience handling breeds like Malinois or Akita would be particularly suited, as Milo may not be the best match for first-time dog owners. He is eager to explore the world around him, and we hope to connect him with a loving home that can support him on this journey.
Could you be the one to provide Milo with the forever home he so richly deserves? We look forward to helping him find his new home soon!
