About me
- Can I live with other dogs? Potentially - Both dogs have had positive interactions with the Sanctuary's Staff dogs, including a Labrador and two Spaniels. They could thrive in a home with another dog that has a similar calm demeanour, as they prefer a more relaxed canine companion over those with high energy levels. Previously, Edna and Elsie lived with three other dogs: a Chihuahua, a Jack Chi, and a French Bulldog. The owner reported that Edna and Elsie struggled to get along with the Jack Chi, while the lively 10-month-old French Bulldog proved to be too energetic for them. As a result, the owner made the difficult decision to surrender Edna and Elsie to us, believing it was in the best interest of all the dogs involved.
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes
- Can I live with young children? Potentially - Edna and Elsie have not lived with children but they have interacted with visiting children in the previous home without any issues. Given their ages and the significant changes they have experienced in their lives, we recommend that they be placed in a home with children aged 15 years and older. This will ensure a more suitable and stable environment for them.
- Do I have any medical issues? No - Both Edna and Elsie have received comprehensive health checks from a vet. Notably, Edna underwent a successful surgical procedure on the 9th April to remove a polyp from her rear end, the surgery yielded positive results.
- Can I live with cats? Potentially
- Am I good on the lead? Yes - As Chihuahuas, both dogs exhibit excellent behaviour on the lead. They could easily be walked on a splitter. Given their small stature, they tend to walk at their own pace. However, potential adopters should be aware that they can easily get underfoot, presenting a possible trip hazard. It is important to remain vigilant during walks to ensure their safety, particularly with Edna, who is smaller than Elsie.
Edna and Elsie are a beautiful pair of Chihuahuas seeking a new home after the loss of their previous owner. During this challenging time, a kind-hearted individual stepped in to care for them.
About Edna & Elsie:
– Edna (Fawn – Daughter): Full of confidence, Edna loves belly rubs and has a talent for making friends with anyone willing to give her some affection. Her playful spirit and loving nature make her an absolute delight.
– Elsie (Tri-Color – Mother): Elsie has a more reserved demeanor and may be cautious around new people, especially men. However, with a little patience, she opens up and reveals her gentle personality. Once comfortable, both dogs eagerly seek attention and affection.
Although Edna and Elsie have undergone dental work and are missing several teeth, this only adds to their charm. Edna’s tongue often pokes out, and she playfully mouths your hands when it’s time to put on her harness, showering you with slobbery kisses along the way.
These delightful dogs are in search of a retirement home where they can enjoy leisurely walks and regular trips to a coffee shop for a puppuccino. Their absolute favorite treat is cheese, which they cherish above all else.
If you’re looking to welcome one or two loving companions into your home, Edna and Elsie would be the perfect fit. They are eager to share their lives with someone who will provide them with the love and care they deserve in their golden years.
