About me

  • Can I live with other dogs? Potentially - Abi loves spending time with Ruby, a staff member's spaniel, and they often go on walks together. For successful applicants, a meet and greet at our location with their dog and Abi will be required. Abi also has a fondness for her toys and may occasionally have a little disagreement with another dog over them. However, rest assured that no harm is ever done, it’s all part of normal dog communication. Adopters should keep this in mind, especially if their dog also adores toys!
  • Can I live with teenagers? Yes
  • Can I live with young children? No - 11+ - Given our limited understanding of Abi's previous home environment and her energetic, staffy nature, it would be most suitable to rehome her in a household with older children only.
  • Do I have any medical issues? Potentially - When Abi first joined us, she had an issue with one of her back legs, making it difficult for her to bear weight and causing discomfort. She has undergone thorough examinations by three different vets, and her most recent appointment included an X-ray that indicated potential arthritis in the area. This could lead to a CCL (cranial cruciate ligament) issue in the future. While the vet cannot confirm this with absolute certainty at present, they have mentioned that surgery may be necessary in the coming months if her condition worsens. Currently, Abi is in our care at the kennels and enjoys walks two to three times a day, however, this exercise routine differs significantly from a typical home environment. We believe that once Abi is in a more normal setting, whether through fostering or adoption and receives more regular exercise and off lead time, we will better understand her leg's condition. At this time, the leg appears stable, and she has made significant improvements compared to the limping dog she was upon arrival. There are still uncertainties regarding Abi's medical needs, but we are more than happy to discuss this in greater detail with anyone interested in fostering or adopting her. Please reach out to us via email to speak with our dog trainer, Gary Mathlin. *Additional Medical Information*: Abi is not yet spayed but is fully vaccinated. Next vaccination due: 17th April 2026. For further details on cruciate ligament disease or injury, please visit the information link in her bio. Please note - this link is just for information on CCL only - it is not an official referral.
  • Can I live with cats? No - We have no information on whether Abi has ever lived with a cat before, therefore, a cat free home is preferred.
  • Am I good on the lead? Yes - Abi excels at walking on a loose lead and consistently checks in with her handler. She loves going for walks with her two spaniel friends, Ruby and Spike!
  • What was the reason for my surrender? Abi's previous owners were unable to afford the potential veterinary costs if her rear leg issue required surgery, leading them to request that their vet euthanise her. However, the vet, who is part of our panel, was unwilling to proceed with that. They then reached out to us for assistance.
  • What am I like when I travel in a vehicle? Abi travels very well without issue, inside of a crate in a van type vehicle. She was very relaxed for the short trip.
  • Do I have any fears? Not that we know of!

Abi is a true ray of sunshine and the happiest staffy we’ve ever encountered! She radiates joy and is excited to greet everyone she meets. When she first arrived, she was quite shy and confused, but it didn’t take long for her to realise that our sanctuary is a joyful place. She is now completely settled in. This sweet girl thrives on human interaction and, in our view, cherishes cuddles above all else! She truly is a cuddle monster who deserves the comforts of a loving home!
