About me
- Can I live with other dogs? Yes - Amelie has a few canine companions at the sanctuary, including two male Labradors, one aged 3 and the other aged 8. She absolutely loves playing with them and gets incredibly excited whenever she sees them. Her play style is quite boisterous, but she also knows when to tone it down. Amelie would thrive in a home with a dog that shares her lively spirit and can keep up with her energetic antics!
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes
- Can I live with young children? No - Given Amelie's energetic personality, she might accidentally knock over younger children. Therefore, she would be a better fit for a home with children aged 12 and older.
- Do I have any medical issues? Potentially - Amelie has undergone a comprehensive health check at the vets and no issues were found. She has just started what we believe to be her first season (end of September) - Once the season has ended, we will reconvene with the vet as to when she can be spayed.
- Can I live with cats? No - Since Amelie was brought in as a stray, we lack information about her history and whether she has ever lived with a cat.
- Am I good on the lead? Yes - Amelie is currently undergoing lead training and is excelling at it! She responds well to the cue word “check” to check in with her handler. Occasionally, she may exhibit a bit of lead chewing, but with guidance from our dog behaviourist, Gary Mathlin, adopters will receive helpful tips to remedy this. Amelie thoroughly enjoys going for walks and is an enthusiastic explorer!
Meet Amelie! Our vibrant and full of beans Frenchie X Bulldog!
Amelie was brought to us as a stray, found wearing a bark collar without an ID tag, and her microchip provided no owner information. The bark collar was swiftly discarded!
Being just a puppy, she is only starting out in life and needs to learn the basics. Amelie is highly intelligent and loves training! She is currently learning quite a few exercises, and due to her young age and intelligence, she picks up new tricks super quickly, she is truly astonishing! She adores her toys & playing tug of war is her favourite game! She will make a wonderful addition for anyone looking for a young, energetic dog who is ready to start from scratch.
Amelie is super cuddly, friendly, and adores everyone she meets, greeting them with a wiggly bum and kisses. She is our little cuddle bug.
Her loose lead walking is coming along nicely, and she has even started to act as a stooge dog for our other rescue dogs that need a little help with their dog reactivity. A kennel is no place for such a young, wonderful puppy, and we’d like to see her adopted ASAP, ideally before her 1st birthday!
FYI – Amelie is quite the shredder when it comes to licky mats, bedding, and toys, so adopters should definitely keep anything that might normally be on the floor out of reach, or they might find it in pieces! This is perfectly normal for the puppy stage.
