About me
- Can I live with other cats? No - Chad isn't particularly fond of other cats and often instigates fights with them for no apparent reason. When he first came to our farm as a "stray," he frequently picked fights with our farm cats, even when food wasn’t a factor. He has consistently displayed negative behaviour towards the other cats in the Cattery, visible behind the glass. It’s clear that he would thrive as the sole pet in a household.
- Can I live with dogs? No
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes
- Can I live with young children? No - Given Chad's unknown background and his high energy breed, we do not recommend placing him in a home with children.
- Do I have any medical issues? No - Chad recently underwent a comprehensive health check at the vet, and everything looks great! He has been fully vaccinated and neutered while in our care. His next booster vaccination is scheduled for the 1st September 2027. Chad’s visits to the vet are always memorable! Once released from his carrier, he loves to dash around the room, creating a bit of excitement. On his last visit, he nearly caused a monitor to topple over!
- Can I live as an indoor cat? No - Since Chad has travelled at least two miles to reach our farm, we believe he is not well suited for sole, indoor living. Given his breed, he is accustomed to roaming freely.
- What was the reason for my surrender? We believe Chad has strayed from his home, likely traveling about two miles, as we suspect he originates from the same place as Ferris, the last Savannah cat who turned up on our site, who has since been rehomed. We tried to reach out to his owner but received no response after seven days. As a result, Chad became the legal property of our rescue, allowing us to find him a new home.
Meet Chad! He wandered away from home and spent most of his time on our farm from January to July 2026. During that period, we only caught fleeting glimpses of him, but he always appeared healthy and happy. We suspected he had a history here since this isn’t the first Savannah mix we’ve encountered on our property.
Despite several attempts to catch him, it wasn’t until one day that he approached us, drawn by food. At that point, he looked thin and had lost some muscle mass, clearly in need of a good meal.
Now safely in our cattery after being willingly caught, Chad is enjoying regular meals and is already starting to regain his weight. Our team has dedicated time to getting to know his personality. He can be quite cuddly and enjoys attention, though he also likes to choose when he wants to interact. Most of the time, he’s content just to be near you. A true foodie, he’s always on the lookout for snacks!
We’ve determined that Chad needs a rural home without other pets (dogs or cats) and should be rehomed at least 3 miles away from the sanctuary to prevent him from finding his way back.
Chad would thrive in a home with outdoor access, as he tends to feel confined in his enclosure, he can pace quite a lot on occasion sadly. He’s simply not built for indoor life!
