About me
- Can I live with other dogs? Yes - I’ve made a few doggy friends since coming into the sanctuary! 🐾 I’ve met two Labradors, aged 1 and 9, and a 5 year old Spaniel, and I’ve got along really well with all of them. I love running around and playing chase, although I have to admit, my stamina doesn’t quite match the Labradors! 😂 I soon decide it’s time to flop down, have a little rest and chill out. If you have another dog at home and your application is successful, you’ll be invited to bring them to the sanctuary so we can meet and see how we get along. We may need a few meet and greets to make sure we’re a good match!
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes
- Can I live with young children? Yes - I’ve previously lived with two children aged 6 and 9. Unfortunately, due to certain circumstances, the 9 year old wasn’t comfortable living with me. My friends at the sanctuary can provide more information about this via email if you’d like to know more. I could potentially live with children in my new home, ideally those who are used to being around larger dogs. 🐾
- Do I have any medical issues? Potentially - I have a vet appointment on Friday 30th October for a general health check. I am already fully vaccinated, my booster is due on the 12th February 2027. I’m not neutered at the moment, and the team will follow the vet’s advice on whether and when this should be carried out.
- Can I live with cats? No - I’ve never lived with a cat before, so I’d be best suited to a home without any feline friends.
- Am I good on the lead? No - I’m still learning my lead manners, and I can be quite strong when I pull! 💪 The team are working with me on my loose lead walking, and the good news is that I’m a clever boy who’s eager to learn! I’ll need a confident, strong handler who is steady on their feet and physically fit to help me continue my training and become the best walking companion I can be!
- What was the reason for my surrender? I was sadly surrendered because one of the children in my previous home wasn’t comfortable living with me.
- What am I like when I travel in a vehicle? Pending Review
- Do I have any fears? I haven’t shown any obvious fears or worries around the team so far, but I’m still settling in and undergoing assessment.
- What are my exercise requirements? I will require around a minimum of 1.5 hours of exercise each day, ideally with a good variety of activities. This will include lead walks, off-lead play, and formal training such as scent work, hoopers, gundog training, and Kennel Club Good Citizen training up to Gold level. Due to my size, agility would not be a suitable activity for me.
GOLDEN BOY CHARLIE!❤️
I’m the first Golden Retriever to arrive at All Creatures in 14 years! 🧡 I’m a very special, unique boy with lots of character and love to give.
I’d ideally love a home with someone experienced with larger dogs (it doesn’t have to be a Golden Retriever!). I’ll need some training, but most importantly, I need stability and a fresh start, as my little world has been turned upside down at such a young age. ❤️🩹
I’m a very affectionate boy and already know a few tricks! I can sit, lie down and even do a middle! My biggest challenge is learning to walk nicely on the lead, so I’ll need someone patient and committed to helping me master this!
