About me
- Can I live with other dogs? Potentially - Both dogs socialize well with other dogs when introduced properly. Since joining us, they’ve met a variety of breeds, from Labradors to Pomeranians, and may thrive in a home with a dog of a similar size. They enjoy regular lead walks with one of our other rescues, Roo, a Pomeranian.
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes
- Can I live with young children? Potentially - 12+
- Do I have any medical issues? Yes - Doug has been neutered while in our care, and Pearl was neutered in 2020 under her previous owner's care. A recent health check revealed that Doug has two luxating patella's, however, they do not require any further examination at this time.
- Can I live with cats? No - Both dogs have never lived with a cat before.
- Am I good on the lead? Yes - Both dogs are excellent on the lead and enjoy walking leisurely by your side. However, because they are quite small, adopters should be aware that they can easily get underfoot. Doug in particular tends to walk very close to your feet as he likes to stay near. He can also show some discomfort when having his harness put on or taken off. Although he has been checked by a vet and shows no signs of pain, we believe his behaviour may stem from a past experience where a harness clip caught his fur or skin, making him anxious about being clipped on and off. Our dog assessor, Gary Mathlin, can provide advice on this. Currently, we are able to clip Doug into a harness without any issues. One staff member distracts him with tasty cheese treats to create a positive experience, while another gently clips the harness on slowly. Both dogs are not fond of walking in the rain (and we can't blame them!).
Meet Pearl and Doug: The Fluffy Dynamic Duo Seeking a Forever Home Together!
Doug and Pearl are a loving brother-sister duo, and their deep bond shines through in everything they do. Both are delightful little clouds with incredibly sweet natures. They thrive on cuddles, attention & going at a steady pace in everything they do, making them perfect companions for someone who enjoys a slow, peaceful environment.
While Pearl may be a bit less confident than her brother Doug in certain situations, she warms up quickly and is sure to steal your heart!
Coming from a home without a garden, both dogs were trained to use tissue paper for toilet needs indoors and are not accustomed to stairs. In our socialization room, Pearl happily jumps onto the sofa for snuggles, while Doug prefers to use a little ramp or waits patiently at your feet, hoping for a lift! They both cherish their one-on-one time with staff and volunteers.
These two were surrendered to us because their previous owner felt they deserved a home with more opportunities. Both dogs are fantastic on the lead, and their recall skills in our enclosed fields are impressive. Doug, the foodie of the duo, will follow you like a shadow for a tasty treat, while Pearl patiently waits her turn, knowing Doug tends to get there first!
Their unbreakable bond means they must be rehomed together to continue flourishing in a loving environment. If you’re interested in welcoming this fluffy duo into your home, please reach out to us via email for a Dog Perfect Match Form.
