About me
- Can I live with other cats? Potentially - Drumstick might get along well with other cats. According to his previous owners, he has been fine around them, and he doesn’t appear to be disturbed by the other cats within the cattery.
- Can I live with dogs? Potentially - Drumstick might get along well with cat savvy dogs. According to his previous owners, he is fine around them. He has seen a staff members Labrador & was quite wary of them from a distance. Please note that we can only accept applications from homes where the dog has had prior experience living with a cat without any issues.
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes
- Can I live with young children? Yes - Drumstick previously lived in a home with two children, aged 10 and 8.
- Do I have any medical issues? Yes - Drumstick arrived at our sanctuary after a visit to the vet, where he underwent an amputation of his severely broken back left leg. He is scheduled for a castration appointment on the 22nd April 2026. On April 10th, Drumstick began exhibiting signs of phantom limb syndrome, displaying distress by attacking the area where his leg once was. He was promptly taken to the emergency vet and started on a weeks course of gabapentin, administered three times daily. Currently, if Drumstick does not experience further episodes, no additional treatment will be necessary. However, should there be any more outbursts, a scan of where the leg was will be recommended, and his neutering appointment may need to be rescheduled. Thankfully, since his initial episode on the 10th, he has not shown any further signs of distress. Further medical - Drumstick is not vaccinated at this time.
- Can I live as an indoor cat? No - Drumstick has always enjoyed outdoor access, but given that he now has three legs, his mobility may be a bit slower. We recommend a calm, low to 0 traffic area for him to explore safely. We would not consider rehoming him to a location near busy roads or railway lines anyway per our policy for all cats, so it’s important that the environment is tranquil to allow Drumstick to wander outside comfortably.
- What was the reason for my surrender? Drumstick's family felt they could no longer give him the home he deserves. They stated to us that they found it extremely difficult caring for him when he had 4 legs & was even more neglected when he had his amputation.
