About me

  • Can I live with other cats? Potentially - When Ferris first joined us at the end of September 2025, he did not engage in any conflicts with our resident farm cats. After being caught and brought into our cattery, he has shown little interest in the other cats in his block, despite being able to see them at all times in the downstairs areas of their pods. This lack of interest could be attributed to the cattery environment, but we can’t say for sure. Notably, during his time as a “stray,” he coexisted peacefully with our resident farm cats.
  • Can I live with dogs? Potentially - Ferris is not phased by the dogs at the sanctuary & does not move away when approached by a staff members Labrador (who is friendly with cats). Please note: we can only accept applications from homes where the dog has lived with a cat before without any issues, the dog visiting a property regularly with a cat does not count.
  • Can I live with teenagers? Yes
  • Can I live with young children? No - 13+
  • Do I have any medical issues? No - Ferris has received a full health check at the vets & has been neutered in our care with no concerns. Ferris is currently not vaccinated.
  • Can I live as an indoor cat? No - Ferris is best suited to being an outdoor cat. His breed possesses a strong hunting instinct, and he thrives in the outdoors due to his high prey drive. While he has adapted well to our cattery, it’s clear that he longs for the freedom of the outside world. You can see his adventurous spirit in the way he climbs to the ceiling of his cabin whenever he can, he’s truly a natural explorer!
  • What was the reason for my surrender? Ferris turned up at the sanctuary after wandering away from home. He was in hunting mode, as we have many chickens & small furries on site.

Meet Ferris!

Yes, he’s named after the film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off!

This little guy ran away from home and found his way to our property.

Ferris is a Savannah breed with a very high prey drive, making him unsuitable for homes with chickens, rabbits, or guinea pigs.

He first appeared on our site at the end of September 2025, and we were puzzled about his origins! He quickly showed interest in our chickens, even sadly managing to catch one, which then led to a close call with another!

After this incident, we lured him in with food, his ultimate motivation! We successfully caught him and placed him in our cattery to ensure he did not hurt any more of our animals! Surprisingly content in there, he is enjoying 3-4 meals a day. As long as he’s well fed, he’s a happy cat!

It is important to note that due to Ferris’s breed he operates life at 100 miles an hour & is a very active feline. He can also get a little bit nippy around food time if he is impatient or if he’s having 1-1 time with a staff member. We believe he becomes easily overstimulated in the cattery.

Given Ferris’s history, we will need to rehome him outside of the Sanctuary’s area, no one can adopt him within a 4 mile radius, as we have evidence of him wandering up to 2 miles away from home in the past. He also cannot be rehomed into an area with chickens or small furries near by – he WILL try to hunt them.

Ferris is a friendly, talkative cat with a curious, youthful spirit. He loves to rub against your legs for attention, and if you have food in your pockets, you can be sure his head will be right in there! He also adores playing with toys & climbing as high up as he can possibly get! He’s an adventurous outdoor cat who just wants to explore wherever his paws take him!
