About me
- Can I live with other dogs? Potentially - Gaston is accustomed to living independently and remains unfazed by the presence of other dogs during walks. He has been tested with a staff member's spaniel, and no issues were observed. Given the urgency of finding him a foster home, it would be ideal for Gaston to be placed in a setting where he is the sole pet or with a very calm dog that will not engage him in play during his recovery from surgery.
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes
- Can I live with young children? Potentially - Given Gaston's requirement for BOAS surgery, it is preferable for him to be placed in a home with children aged 12 and older who have experience with dogs. It is essential to maintain a calm environment during his recovery phase.
- Do I have any medical issues? Yes - Gaston is currently in need of BOAS surgery, which stands for brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome surgery. This procedure is intended to enhance breathing in brachycephalic dogs, characterized by their short muzzles, by removing or reshaping obstructive tissues that limit airflow in the upper airways. Additionally, Gaston experiences seasonal allergies that can occasionally exacerbate his skin condition. He has a veterinary appointment scheduled to explore suitable shampoos that may help alleviate this issue.
- Can I live with cats? No - Gaston has not previously lived with a cat and tends to exhibit a chasing behaviour towards them while on a leash during walks.
- Am I good on the lead? Yes - Gaston does not pull on the lead, which can be attributed to his breed and calm disposition. Currently, he experiences some breathing difficulties, which result in a lack of urgency to run, given the potential impact on his respiratory health. Post-surgery, he may be able to explore a bit further; however, it is crucial for fosterers and adopters to remain attentive during walks and to always check the outdoor temperature beforehand. Meet Gaston! our gorgeous Frenchie in search of his forever home!
Unfortunately, he has come to us after his family had to move overseas and couldn’t take him along.
Gaston is no stranger to kennels, having spent up to four weeks at a time in one while his family travelled. However, he has adjusted beautifully in our care and enjoys his leisurely walks twice a day. This laid-back boy loves to explore our fields at his own pace and will happily curl up next to you for a cozy cuddle for hours on end.
His absolute favourite treat? Cheese! Gaston will eagerly come over for just a small piece, but if you don’t have any, don’t be surprised if he just stands there and gives you an adorable stare—his recall is a charming 50/50!
Currently, Gaston is in urgent need of a foster home to aid in his recovery following surgery (please refer to the medical section for details). It’s important for him to recuperate outside of a kennel environment due to the potential challenges involved.
We are seeking a fosterer with prior experience caring for French Bulldogs, particularly in an aftercare setting, though this is not a strict requirement. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to this sweet boy, we’d love to hear from you!
