About me
- Can I live with other cats? No - For her well being, we advise against placing Jalapeño in a home with other cats. In her previous environment, she shared space with one cat, but her owner reported that she occasionally reacted aggressively towards them without warning.
- Can I live with dogs? No - Jalapeño has never lived with a dog
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes - 18+
- Can I live with young children? No - Jalapeño was surrendered to us after exhibiting unexpected aggressive behaviour towards her owner. For safety reasons, we do not recommend placing her in a home with young children.
- Do I have any medical issues? Potentially - Jalapeño has a vet appointment scheduled for Friday March 13th, for a health check and microchipping. Since she is currently in season, we will also discuss scheduling a spay appointment with the vet during this visit. Please note that she is not vaccinated at this time.
- Can I live as an indoor cat? Yes - Jalapeño has always been an indoor cat, and at 9 years old, we believe that allowing her outside now would be unsuitable, as she lacks outdoor experience. A home with ample space would be ideal for her, allowing her to create her own comfort zone and retreat whenever she needs to.
- What was the reason for my surrender? Jalapeño had two unprovoked incidents in which she attacked her previous owner, resulting in the owner needing antibiotics for the wounds. For more details, please refer to her bio.
Meet Jalapeño!
This spirited cat is on the lookout for a new home where she can thrive.
Currently, Jalapeño is still under assessment as we interact with her to understand her personality in a cattery environment. Since she is in season, we expect some natural behavioural changes during this time. She was surrendered to us after two unprovoked attacks on her previous owner within a two week span, and she also unexpectedly lashed out at another cat in the household.
The first incident was described as minor, and details surrounding it are unclear. The second occurred when her owner was removing cello tape from a cardboard box, Jalapeño reacted negatively to the sound, which may have startled her. Due to her unpredictable behaviour, her family made the difficult decision to rehome her.
So far, we have not observed any similar behaviour in the cattery, and she seems to display a normal temperament. However, it’s essential to note that behavioural changes can occur when a cat is in season and not spayed. Jalapeño has been with her previous family since she was just three weeks old, despite kittens typically staying with their mothers until 9-12 weeks of age. This is something to be considered regarding her temperament.
We will be consulting with our vets on March 13th to discuss her situation further and will update her profile after the appointment.
