- Can I live with other dogs? Potentially
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes
- Can I live with young children? No - 11+- dog savvy. Marty has never lived with young children but was used to an 11 year old visiting the home, so an adult only home or one with older children would be ideal for him.
- Do I have any medical issues? Potentially - Marty has undergone a comprehensive health check at the vet, with no concerns noted. His vaccination booster is scheduled for the 11th May 2027. He arrived already neutered, as he was one of our rescue dogs from 2024. In the past, Marty experienced some gastro intestinal issues and received physiotherapy at his previous home. Fortunately, since being with us, he hasn’t shown any signs of gastro issues & we have seen no reason to continue the physio, but he is on a specialised diet consisting of Royal Canin Biscuits and ProPlan Hypoallergenic meat. During his trip to the vet, Marty was very well behaved and even stopped at a coffee shop while waiting, where he was amazing & calm! He also met several dogs in the waiting room and was absolutely fine around them.
- Can I live with cats? No - Marty was previously placed in a home with two cats after being adopted from ACGAS in 2024, but we learned that they sadly couldn't settle in together properly. As a result, Marty would be best suited to a home without cats.
- Am I good on the lead? Potentially - Marty gets super excited when it's time for walks! He barks at you as soon as he sees the harness, but then patiently waits for you to put it on him. If you're taking too long, he’ll remind you with another bark! Marty does tend to pull a bit, so he needs some training for loose lead walking, but he’s not too bad. With consistent practice and building his confidence, he’ll definitely get better! :)
- What was the reason for my surrender? Marty’s previous owners adored him, but unfortunately, he and the two cats couldn't find a way to coexist in the home, despite their best efforts.
- What am I like when I travel in a vehicle? Absolutely fine! (travelling in a secured crate in the back of a van)
- Do I have any fears? Fireworks & thunder
Marty has spent the past two years in a home with two cats but, unfortunately, has not been able to settle with them, and they struggled to adjust to him as well. Originally adopted from us in 2024, he has sadly returned this year due to these challenges.
Marty has a tremendous love for humans and truly behaves like a lap dog! Whenever his handlers sit down in the field, he zooms right into their laps for a cuddle. He can happily stay there all day, watching the world go by. He thrives on affection and quickly forms bonds with people. Because of this, Marty is primarily seeking an adult home where he won’t have the stress of being around young children or cats, ideally in a calm, quiet environment where he can relax and let his anxieties fade away.
His previous owners collaborated with their vets and a nutritionist to establish a suitable feeding regimen for him, which has proven successful. Since returning to us, Marty has not experienced any gastrointestinal issues, more details are included in his medical section.
