About me
- Can I live with other dogs? Yes - During her time in our care, Petal has encountered various dogs of different shapes and sizes. She appears unfazed by them and remains calm in their presence. She is currently in foster care with a large X breed.
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes
- Can I live with young children? Yes - Petal has come from a family where there were children present around 3 months of age - 1 year.
- Do I have any medical issues? Yes - Petal has undergone a comprehensive health check at the vet, which revealed the following: She is not classified as an urgent BOAS case, but surgery would enhance her quality of life. She is scheduled to have this surgery on the 20th January. Petal is also fully vaccinated. Next vaccination due: 9th January 2026. Petal is not spayed at this time, we will be seeking vet advise on this, after her BOAS surgery. Her hind legs have very little muscle, resulting in her being "top heavy". This can cause her to do handstands while eating or urinating. The vets have recommended that with appropriate nutrition and exercise, she can gradually rebuild this muscle. She also has grade 1 luxating patella's in both her hindlegs but apparently is is not a cause for concern and is not causing any issues right now. When Petal first arrived, she had a severe case of conjunctivitis, but it cleared up after receiving antibiotics. This is why her eyes may appear a bit gunky in some of her photos!
- Can I live with cats? Yes - Petal has lived with cats in her previous home without issue. Please note - we can only accept applications from homes where the dog has lived with cats before. Dogs visiting households with cats will not qualify.
- Am I good on the lead? Yes - Petal walks well on a lead, but it appears she hasn't had much exercise. Her nails were quite overgrown when she first arrived too us, and she tends to be head shy when it comes to wearing a harness. She enjoys taking slow walks and will need a structured exercise plan to help her gradually build muscle. Our dog trainer, Gary Mathlin, will be implementing this plan to aid adopters.
- What was the reason for my surrender? My owner had ill health & could no longer care for me.
- What am I like when I travel in a vehicle? Petal travels well in a crate inside a van & also travels nicely in the back of a standard car when secured with a seatbelt harness.
Meet Petal, a name that perfectly embodies her gentle spirit! This charming Frenchie is searching for a calm home free from high energy. Petal is extremely friendly and loves meeting new people. While she enjoys the occasional playtime with toys, her favourite pastime is lounging around.
Currently in foster care, Petal is awaiting BOAS surgery. In her foster home, she shares space with a large mixed breed dog, and they get along wonderfully, Petal is completely unfazed by his presence. Most of her time is spent snoozing anyway!, making her the perfect companion for someone looking for a relaxed pet.
Petal prefers short strolls around the block or quick trips to the park, rather than long hikes or extensive walks. Given her breed and temperament, she doesn’t require much exercise, she’s truly more of a homebody!
