About me

  • Can I live with young children? No - We would not place Ranger in a home with children since he has not been exposed to them & tends to be very anxious when being handled.
  • Do I have any medical issues? No - Ranger has undergone a thorough health examination at the vet. He was treated for suspected ringworm for two months, but we are pleased to report that it has completely cleared up, with no signs remaining! Since coming into our care, Ranger has also been neutered. Aside from the previous ringworm and a minor jaw misalignment, which isn’t causing him any issues, the vets have expressed no further health concerns. When he first arrived, he was quite underweight and appeared unwell, likely due to the ringworm. As of the 9th June 2026, we have no concerns about Ranger’s health. He has gained a healthy amount of weight and is now thriving on a stable diet of Gertie Guinea Pig food, hay, and a variety of fruits and vegetables!
  • What was the reason for my surrender? Ranger's owner was unable to provide him and the other male guinea pig in the household with the time & care they needed.

Ranger arrived with another male guinea pig, Ronin. Before their arrival, they had been housed together but had been fighting significantly, resulting in wounds for both, with Ranger being the worse off. This prompted their owner to separate them. Sadly, Ronin passed away shortly after coming to us due to underlying kidney failure that we were unaware of.

At the moment, Ranger is very nervous and skittish. He isn’t comfortable with handling and always hides when we approach his enclosure. Our team is committed to working on his socialisation and helping him adapt to his new surroundings, but this process is taking time, especially since he was on multiple medications when he first arrived and has been through a lot of stress due to the treatments & vet visits.

Since Ranger has been neutered, he may be able to live with a female guinea pig for companionship, which could help him feel more secure! He needs a home where he can receive plenty of time and patience. With the right love and care, we believe he will begin to express his personality and learn to feel more comfortable around humans.
