About me
- Can I live with other dogs? Potentially - I’m still waiting to be assessed around other dogs here at the sanctuary, so we don’t yet know how I’ll get along with them. Unfortunately, there’s no previous information available about how I interact with other animals. However, my previous owner’s family told the team that my owner was a huge animal lover, so it’s possible I may have lived with other animals in my previous home. For now, my compatibility with other pets remains unknown.
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes - 16+
- Can I live with young children? No - As there isn’t much known about my background and I can be quite bouncy and excitable, I’d be best suited to a home with children aged 16 and over who are comfortable around lively, large dogs like me.
- Do I have any medical issues? Potentially - I have a vet appointment on Friday 30th October for a general health check and my first vaccination. I’m not neutered at the moment, and the team will follow the vet’s advice on whether and when this should be carried out.
- Can I live with cats? No - Unfortunately, there’s no information available about whether I’ve ever lived with cats before, so my compatibility with them is currently unknown.
- Am I good on the lead? Yes - I’m good on the lead and don’t tend to pull. The team will soon be fitting me with a harness so they can see how I get on during walks out and about. As I’ve only recently arrived, I’m still being assessed, so the team will update my profile as they learn more about me and my needs.
- What was the reason for my surrender? Roy came into our care following the sudden and sad passing of his owner. He was found alone in the property, and the police were called to attend. They took Roy into their care and subsequently reached out to us to arrange for him to come into our care. Members of Roy’s family have since been in touch with us and have expressed how happy they are that he is safe and being looked after by our team.
- What am I like when I travel in a vehicle? Pending Review
- Do I have any fears? I haven’t shown any obvious fears or worries around the team so far, but I’m still settling in and undergoing assessment.
- What are my exercise requirements? I’d be happy with a few short walks each day, around 20 minutes at a time. I’m a relatively low-maintenance boy when it comes to exercise, so I’d suit a home looking for a companion who doesn’t need hours of walking every day.
A Big Softie Looking for Love ❤️
I’m a very affectionate and cuddly boy who absolutely loves human company! I’m happiest when I’m close to my people, and I seem to crave lots of attention and reassurance. I can get a little overexcited at times and enjoy jumping up to say hello, and I’m quite a big, solid lad, so I may be a bit of a handful when I get carried away!
The team believe I may be an Old English Bulldog crossed with a Dogue de Bordeaux. I’m a little bigger than an Old English Bulldog, but not quite as large as a Dogue de Bordeaux, making me a lovely, substantial lad!
I’ve recently experienced the sudden loss of my beloved owner, and understandably, I may be feeling confused and unsettled by everything that has happened. As the circumstances were unexpected, the team don’t yet know exactly what I’ve been through or how this change has affected me.
At the moment, I’m seeking lots of affection and human contact, which may be my way of coping with such a significant change in my life. While I’m a very loving boy, my need for attention and reassurance can be quite intense, so it’s important that my future adopter understands my circumstances and is prepared to give me the time, patience and support I need to settle into my new life.
It’s still early days, and there’s lots more for the team to learn about me! We don’t yet know what I’m like with toys, as I’m still settling in and showing everyone my personality at my own pace. I haven’t taken any treats from the team just yet either, although this is likely to be because I’m feeling stressed and overwhelmed by all the recent changes. Hopefully, as I begin to feel more comfortable and secure, the team will get to discover even more about the things I enjoy!
I’m still in the early stages of assessment, and the team are getting to know me better every day. As they learn more about my personality, behaviour and needs, they’ll update my profile accordingly.
Could you be the person who helps me feel safe and loved again? ❤️
