About me
- Can I live with other dogs? Yes - Seffie has been tested with a staff member's spaniel (Spike) and Labrador (Sullivan) and she displayed no issues. She might thrive with a doggo companion to help boost her confidence. For successful applicants, a meet and greet at our site with their dog will be required.
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes
- Can I live with young children? No - 14+ - Given Seffie's challenging start in life, she can be quite anxious in unfamiliar environments and around new people. Therefore, a home without children or, with older children only would be ideal for her.
- Do I have any medical issues? Potentially - Seffie is awaiting a health check at the vets. She is currently not spayed & recently had a phantom pregnancy in January 2026. She is fully vaccinated. Next vaccination due: 14th January 2027.
- Can I live with cats? Potentially - Seffie has no previous experience living with cats to our knowledge, so a home without one may be more suitable for her, though we can't guarantee this. She usually ignores the farm cats that roam around our site.
- Am I good on the lead? Potentially - Seffie is currently focusing on building a bond with the staff, practicing putting her harness on and off, and enjoying time off lead in our secure fields. While she does pull a bit on the lead, it's not excessive. As a spaniel, we believe she will quickly learn loose lead walking with a patient handler. Right now, our main priority is to help her overcome her nervousness and skittishness, ensuring she feels comfortable during walks within the sanctuary environment.
- What was the reason for my surrender? Seffie has sadly faced a very difficult start in life, which contributes to her nervousness around people. For more information about the reasons for her surrender, please email us to request a conversation with Gary Mathlin, ACGAS dog assessor.
- What am I like when I travel in a vehicle? Unknown at the moment. We will update her write up following her vet appointment off site.
Introducing Seffie, the sweetest spaniel you’ll ever meet!
Seffie has faced significant challenges early in her life, leading her to feel anxious & distrusting around people. However, she began to trust the staff after just 48 hours of settling in.
This affectionate girl loves to cuddle and enjoys a good game of fetch. With her gentle and forgiving temperament, she’s looking for an experienced adopter who can offer a calm, quiet home and plenty of patience. Seffie values her personal space, so her new family will need to allow her to take her time in coming out of her shell, she cannot be rushed. Seffie does have a few fears from her previous home, which we can discuss in further depth at a meet and greet, with successful applicants.
