About me
- Can I live with other dogs? Potentially - Tanzi is currently being dog tested at the Sanctuary. We have been told that Tanzi got along well with the family dogs (in her previous home).
- Can I live with teenagers? Yes - 11+ - Tanzi is accustomed to being around older children. She's quite large and energetic, which means she could unintentionally knock over a smaller child. For health and safety reasons, she should be placed in a home with children aged 11 and older.
- Can I live with young children? No
- Do I have any medical issues? Potentially - Tanzi has received a full vet check with no concerns. She is fully vaccinated - Next vaccination due 10th February 2027. She was also spayed prior to arriving to the sanctuary.
- Can I live with cats? No - Tanzi has never lived with a cat before
- Am I good on the lead? No - Tanzi’s previous family mentioned that she tends to pull on the lead quite a bit, & we have experienced this ourselves. Based on our observations, she pulls when she’s interested in something, like a chicken or the cats & has recently become quite reactive to traffic going past. The team is currently focused on improving her loose lead walking & reactivity to the mentioned above. It’s important that her new adopters are active and steady on their feet, as they will need to manage her energy.
- What was the reason for my surrender? Tanzi came into our care because her previous owner's health was deteriorating, making it difficult for them to walk her.
- What am I like when I travel in a vehicle? Tanzi was very good jumping into a staff members van but she did need encouragement. We had to remove the crate from the back of the van in order for her to have more space (still covered by transport guidelines). We've been informed by her previous owner that Tanzi is generally good in the car, but she tends to struggle with trips longer than 30 minutes.
- Do I have any fears? Potentially - vehicles when they get too close to Tanzi when she is out on a lead walk
Calling all shepherd lovers!
We’ve all quickly fallen in love with Tanzi! She has adapted beautifully to kennel life and enjoys going for walks with our staff & volunteers.
Full of energy, Tanzi loves to greet everyone with enthusiastic jumps, not quite aware of her size! She thrives on affection and is genuinely a sweet girl. We have a list of cues from her previous owners, and our team is working closely with her to discover the tricks she knows. We are currently focusing on “recall” with her & “loose lead walking”.
Tanzi is both muzzle trained and crate trained. Her previous owners reported that she was perfectly fine being crated for a few hours (2-3) and adapted well to that routine. It’s important for her to have a crate in her new home, as it helps maintain her established routine. Tanzi would benefit from adopters who ideally have large breed experience.
Stay tuned for updates on her progress! 😊
